Methodology

  • Self-Contained Study Units: The Handbook is divided into four sections.
    1. Weekly Focus: Explores a particular issue of the High Holidays
    2. Themes:  Classical themes of the High Holidays
    3. Laws & Customs: Chronological presentation of the laws and customs of the High Holidays period - the month before Rosh Hashanah, Rosh Hashanah, Ten Days of Teshuvah (Repentence) and Yom Kippur.
    4. High Holidays Prayers: Structure and meaning of the prayer services. 
  • Self-Paced Study: Students can read the material and correspond at their own pace.
   

Course Schedule

6 week duration. Monday, August 25, 2008 - Friday, October 10, 2008. Each Monday, new course material will be posted on-line and remain available for the duration of the course.
   

Interactive Feature

Optional Question & Comments: During the entire course period, students are invited to submit questions and comments on the lesson material, via E-mail..
  • Personal Responses: Students will receive personal responses to their letters, via E-mail.
  • Posting Student Correspondence:  Select teacher-student correspondence will be posted on-line for viewing and further comment by the entire class.

Confidentiality of student correspondence will be respected
