The purpose of this book

Abraham, the Patriarch of the Jewish people, struggled through issues that challenged his moral integrity with hostile societal norms, strife and discord, the challenge of finding and understanding God, wealth and success, and infertility. Today, thousands of years later, little has changed where human nature is concerned. Though we live in totally different circumstances, we face these very same issues.

The purpose of this book is to help us explore Abraham’s extraordinary personality and experiences, with the following goals and objectives in mind:

General Goals:

  1. To illustrate the relevance of Torah to contemporary society

  2. To deepen the reader’s understanding and appreciation of classical Torah commentaries

Specific Objectives:

  1. To enhance the reader’s understanding of the universal significance of Abraham’s life

  2. To define Abraham’s role as the Patriarch of the Jewish people
